Its name comes from sfumato, an Italian word meaning “smoky” or “softened,” and reflects the spirit’s fusion of dark woodsmoke, bitter woodsiness, sweet wild berries, and herbal complexity. Typically bottled at around 20% ABV, it offers a bittersweet, richly layered profile that works well as a post-meal digestif neat or on ice, but also lends depth to cocktails, especially when paired with whiskey, mezcal, or citrus mixers.
