Amaro Sfumato Rabarbaro is a distinctive Italian amaro—part of the rabarbaro (rhubarb) style—crafted with Chinese rhubarb root and a proprietary blend of alpine herbs that give it a smoky, earthy character. Its name comes from sfumato, an Italian word meaning “smoky” or “softened,” and reflects the spirit’s fusion of dark woodsmoke, bitter woodsiness, sweet wild berries, and herbal complexity. Typically bottled at around 20% ABV, it offers a bittersweet, richly layered profile that works well as a post-meal digestif neat or on ice, but also lends depth to cocktails, especially when paired with whiskey, mezcal, or citrus mixers. This amaro has roots in the northern Italian regions of Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto and is produced by the family-run Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti, drawing on a long tradition of herbal liqueur making.
